Odyssey '04

If I start writing about this painting...it would never end. School days were after all the best days. This was a background for our Annual School Cultural Competition, 'Odyssey' for the year 2004-05. I with the help of Payal Devani and Shailee Porecha were able to finish this 5.5ft long and 10ft wide poster in a period of 1 month. This is the pictorial illustration of one of the many adventures of Odysseus, the hero of Homer's epic poem, Odyssey. Here, Odysseus (tied) is being helped by his crew to escape the island of the Sirens. The Sirens, are evil creatures who hypnotize travelers by their songs n make them stay on their island forever.

No wonder, Odysseus was having a difficult time resisting the Sirens ;)

Happy Birthday Ma!!!

It was in 2005 when I was just out of school and passing my holidays working for a KPO, playing football and watching movies, my eyes fell on this photograph of John F Kennedy Jr. with his mum in the Reader's Digest edition. I knew in my mind, that instance, that I had to draw this. Well it took me a week to finish it and...

...6 years to frame it and gift my mum on her birthday last year.

Why so Serious???

Surprisingly, the performance of The Joker was much more appreciated by the audience and the critics in The Dark Knight than that of Batman, as if he was some kind of hero. Fans would draw The Joker's face over themselves, celebrities, and other individuals and write the famous line from the movie "Why so serious?" across the image. Being no different, I also admired The Joker more than Batman himself...and his untimely death after the movie gained more attraction to his role.

Well, then what do you do when you're at your new design office, got nothing to do and a stack of visiting cards of ex-employees are lying in your cupboard...I stick a pen in my hand and do this...

Lanterns

Helloooos...dint know I'd be updating this so soon. But suddenly its getting interesting or probably the idea of storing all my stuff at one place is kind of pragmatic as my laptop space is completely occupied with movies and TV series. Since quite sometime I've had this obsession with lanterns. Have tried to make a lot of them but these two are my favourties. The first is made out of hemp-string and the other one is a basic paper lantern. Next one might be with used wine bottles...
